VOLVO TRUCK ERROR CODES AND DECODING

What the error consists of

P0123

The first character is the letter defining the type of defective system:

P - malfunctions of the power unit or transmission (automatic transmission).

B - malfunctions in the operation of body systems: airbags, power windows, central locking, etc .;

C - malfunctions in the chassis of the vehicle;

U - errors associated with the interaction of electronic modules.

The second sign is a number that determines the specificity of the malfunction:

0 - a common character for OBD pads;

1 and 2 - personal codes of the automaker;

3 - reserved information.

The third sign determines the type of breakdown:

1 and 2 - air or fuel supply;

3 - ignition unit, system for fixing the misfire ignition of the air-fuel mixture;

4 - an additional emission control mechanism;

5 - control of vehicle speed and idle;

6 - electronic control modules and their wiring;

7, 8 - errors in the operation of the gearbox;

9, 0 - reserve.

The fourth and fifth signs of the error are numbers that correspond to the serial number of the fault.

All errors in Volvo cars can be displayed in two-, three- and four-digit forms, depending on the version of the control unit (year of manufacture of the car) and the diagnostic method. Fault codes for trucks have the “PID” prefix, which is preceded by numbers, and OBD2 errors are always displayed with the letter “P”.

What the error consists of

P0123

The first character is the letter defining the type of defective system:

P - malfunctions of the power unit or transmission (automatic transmission).

B - malfunctions in the operation of body systems: airbags, power windows, central locking, etc .;

C - malfunctions in the chassis of the vehicle;

U - errors associated with the interaction of electronic modules.

The second sign is a number that determines the specificity of the malfunction:

0 - a common character for OBD pads;

1 and 2 - personal codes of the automaker;

3 - reserved information.

The third sign determines the type of breakdown:

1 and 2 - air or fuel supply;

3 - ignition unit, system for fixing the misfire ignition of the air-fuel mixture;

4 - an additional emission control mechanism;

5 - control of vehicle speed and idle;

6 - electronic control modules and their wiring;

7, 8 - errors in the operation of the gearbox;

29th

Malfunction of the accelerator pedal controller number 2. The signal from the controller to the control unit does not correspond to the normalized values. This problem is only diagnosed on vehicles equipped with dual controls.

46

Incorrect air pressure in the primary receiver. This error is diagnosed only on cars with air suspension.

Possible causes of the problem:

  1. High pressure in the receiver. The problem may be a malfunction of the discharge valves of the compressor device in the unit head, damage to the wiring of the discharge solenoid valve in the dryer. Also, the reason may be the air pressure controller.
  2. A pulse with a voltage of less than 3.1 V is supplied from the sensor to the control module.
  3. Broken wiring or shorted contacts.
  4. Failure of valve elements located in the head of the compressor device, the elements could be stuck in the closed position.

84

Incorrect signal about the speed of the car. The difference between the pulses from the tachograph can be critically high. The problem often is the wiring or malfunction of the speed controller.

86

Problems in the operation of the cruise control system associated with a malfunction of the module or transmitting signal sensors via the SAE information channel

91

Incorrect position of the gas pedal, it is important to check all sensors and wiring

150

Power take-off of the power unit. It is necessary to check the integrity of the power cable of the electromagnetic valve for activating the draft selection system. Possible oxidation of the contacts on the connectors, as well as a break in the conductor between the valve and the control unit.

152

Internal software failure. When such an error occurs, the option to restart the control module by the vehicle is activated.

PID 96

Malfunctioning fuel level controller.

Possible causes of the problem:

  1. The resistance level at the outputs B13 and A12 of the control module of the instrument cluster was more than 1 kOhm. The problem is a break in the signal or negative cable, oxidation or damage to the contact elements on the block. Possible failure of the controller itself.
  2. The resistance value on pins B13 and A12 of the wire from the control panel module to the controller in the tank is more than 20 Ohms. The problem is the regulator itself or the circuit of the signal line to ground.

PID 114

Ammeter malfunctioning. The reason may be in the signal conductor.

PID 117

Front air pressure controller malfunction

PID 118

Failure or malfunction of the rear air flow pressure sensor

PID 158

The battery voltage level is over 31 volts. If the device for starting the engine is not connected, then the problem must be sought in the battery itself or in the generator set.

PID 171

Outside temperature sensor defective or damaged power cable

PID 177

Malfunctions or failure of the transmission fluid temperature controller in the box. If the sensor is functional, the cause of the problem may be a poor contact between the device and the wiring or damage to the cable. Sometimes an error occurs when using low-quality grease.

PID 252

Information about the date or time supplied from the control module of the car or the tachograph module via the data channel is incorrect or completely absent

The code

PID 31

Incorrect position of the demultiplier cylinder. The problem must be sought in the operation of the sensor installed in the gearbox control housing.

PID 32

Malfunction in the system for determining the position of the cylinder divider.

Possible reasons:

  • short circuit on the regulator line to the battery;
  • a break in the power line of the controller;
  • short circuit of the divider sensor circuit to ground;
  • the controller is not calibrated.

PID 33

Clutch cylinder position sensor malfunction. Most often, the problem is the lack of calibration of the regulator.

PID 36

Clutch disc wear is out of range

PID 37

Faulty sensor for fixing the level of air pressure. The device is located in the transmission unit. The problem may be due to the fact that the air pressure level is outside the acceptable range of 4.5-9.2 bar.

PID 127

Low transmission lubrication pressure

PID 158

Incorrect voltage appearing at the input to the control module from batteries
